The Thomas Alva Edison Foundation, headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, is active in 23 nations, sponsoring science institutes, educational conferences, the Edison/McGraw scholarships, and other programs in science education for teachers and youth. The international commemoration of the Centennial of Light was held under the Edison Foundation's auspices.
