""The South Looks at Its Past"" by Benjamin Burks Kendrick is a comprehensive examination of the South's historical memory and how it has evolved over time. The book explores the ways in which Southerners have remembered and interpreted their past, from the Civil War and Reconstruction to the Civil Rights Movement and beyond. Kendrick argues that the South's memory of its past has been shaped by a variety of factors, including regional identity, political ideology, and cultural traditions. He also examines the role of literature, film, and other forms of popular culture in shaping the South's historical memory. Through a combination of historical analysis and cultural criticism, Kendrick offers a nuanced and insightful look at the complex and often contentious relationship between the South and its past. This book is an essential read for anyone interested in Southern history, memory, and culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
