JL spent decades surviving-surviving a violent childhood, surviving two disastrous marriages, surviving spiritual manipulation that hid behind a pulpit. What she hadn't learned was how to live. In The Great Get Out, she tells the whole truth: how generational patterns of abuse shape our choices, how people-pleasing and false humility keep us small, and how predators thrive where boundaries are absent. With unflinching honesty and a scripture-rooted lens, she shows what it takes to move from captivity to freedom-the "wilderness" work of naming reality, setting guardrails, receiving real love, and choosing a renewed mind.
Part testimony, part field guide, this memoir invites readers to break cycles, rebuild identity, and anchor healing yourself using Christ like principles and a an honest reality check of self. If you've ever felt chained to your past, this book is a hand at your back and a light on the path.
