The Doctrine of Immortality in the Odes of Solomon is a book written by J. Rendel Harris that explores the concept of immortality as presented in the Odes of Solomon, a collection of early Christian hymns. Harris examines the various ways in which the Odes present the idea of immortality, including the belief in the resurrection of the dead and the idea of a spiritual or eternal life. He also explores the historical and cultural context in which the Odes were written, providing insights into the early Christian community and their beliefs. Through his analysis, Harris offers a deeper understanding of the Odes of Solomon and their significance in the development of Christian theology. This book is an important resource for scholars and students of early Christianity, theology, and biblical studies.1909. Harris, Professor of Biblical Languages at Cambridge, was one of the leading luminaries in bringing forth the ancient Syriac Bible (and many other ancient Syriac Biblical manuscripts). He spent as much time in the Middle East as possible. The long lost Odes of Solomon were discovered by Harris in 1909 among a pile of old Syriac manuscripts which had been brought to England from the Middle East and tossed onto shelves in a corner of his office. In this volume Harris discusses the subject of Immortality in light of the discovery of the Odes.
