by Francis Raymond Stark (Author)
The Abolition of Privateering and the Declaration of Paris is a historical book written by Francis Raymond Stark in 1897. The book explores the abolishment of privateering, a practice of privately owned ships attacking enemy vessels during war, and the Declaration of Paris, an international treaty signed in 1856 that prohibited privateering and established rules of war at sea. Stark provides a detailed account of the history of privateering and its impact on international relations and maritime warfare. He also delves into the political negotiations and diplomatic efforts that led to the signing of the Declaration of Paris, which was a significant step towards the establishment of international law and the regulation of warfare. The book is a valuable resource for historians, scholars, and anyone interested in international law and the history of naval warfare. It provides a comprehensive overview of the events leading up to the abolition of privateering and the establishment of the Declaration of Paris, as well as the impact of these developments on international relations and the conduct of war at sea. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
