The reader will discover:

  • Starting in this century, Part One introduces modern history using Northeastern Pennsylvania as the example for local history, the U.S.A. for national history, and world history in China, the Middle East and Europe. Then the reader goes back to the 20th Century through two more chapters on local, national, and world history.

There follow major political revolutions in the USA, France, and St. Dominique. In the 17th and 18th centuries science and colonization evolved through the ideas of the British Elightenment. This led to the industrial revolutions in England and America, the American Civil War, and reconstruction of the U.S.A., including the development of the American West. Colonial Empires reached their apex in the 19th Century.

The reader learns about the commerce revolutions, issues concerning land, labor, capital, as well as the information revolutions, and some of the financial revolutions. In the Afterword, the reader discovers that she is the fourth stage of history. This leads to the larger question; How am I affected by my local, national, and world history? The reader is challlenged to develop individual concepts to follow the ideas working in history. Striving for Insight leads to understanding the context in which we live.
