by Daniel Robinson Hundley (Author)
""Social Relations In Our Southern States"" is a book written by Daniel Robinson Hundley that explores the social dynamics of the Southern United States during the mid-19th century. The book provides a detailed analysis of the region's social structure, including the relationships between different socioeconomic groups, races, and genders. Hundley examines the role of slavery in shaping Southern society and argues that it was a necessary institution for maintaining order and stability. He also delves into the unique cultural traditions and customs of the region, including the importance of honor and the concept of ""Southern hospitality."" The book is a valuable historical account of the South during a pivotal time in American history and offers insight into the complex social issues that continue to shape the region today.By the term Cotton, used to designate the class of Snobs peculiar to the South, do not understand us to mean a person who must of necessity hail from the cotton-growing States. By the expression we wish to embrace the entire class of agricultural snobs--so to speak--without reference to whether they raise cotton, or tobacco, or rice, or sugar, or wheat, or hemp, or Indian corn. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
