Is it ever too late to make a new path to a different future? THE IRISH TIMES called "Skinful" a "timely portrayal of grey area drinking". For decades, few people suspected that Robyn Flemming was a grey area drinker. On the surface, she drank "socially" and her life looked successful. But Robyn's drinking was mostly done under the radar. She knew she was developing a serious dependence on the bottle or more of white wine she drank alone each night. Now nearing sixty, was her decision to sell up everything and become a global nomad, risking everything, an act of faith or of folly? Would she find the courage to change herself and not just her location? "Skinful" tracks how the author's drinking eroded her sense of self, her dignity and her self-respect, even while on the surface she seemed adventurous, capable and strong, running marathons, trekking across countries, and running a successful business travelling the world as a freelance editor. What would it take to have the courage to shed her old skin for a new one, to change course from a descent into full-blown alcoholism and make a path to a different, happier future?
Skinful is about the questions we ask at life's turning points: Who am I? What life do I want to live?
