What political forces shaped the world in the early twenty-first century? What lasting imprint did the 11 September 2001 attacks on the United States leave on the global order?
Season of Wolves argues that the post-9/11 era has so far been overwhelmingly understood through the language of terrorism and security. Against these state-spoken and media-echoed narratives, Mohammad-Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou reconstructs a deeper history of the first quarter of the twenty-first century. Through a comprehensive recasting of the events of 11 September through the mid-2020s and an analysis of their global interconnectedness, he traces the emergence of a new political order marked by war, racism, propaganda, authoritarianism and technological oppression. Bringing together political, artistic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethical perspectives, Season of Wolves offers a panoramic account of the world remade in the aftermath of 9/11 and lays bare the structures and forces that continue to define our times.
