by Ph. D. Nancy Willbern (Author)
Rupture in the Canvas is a teaching memoir written not only for those who have experienced one or more life "Ruptures" - those heart-stopping, mind-blowing events that leave us severed from all our identity touchstones - but for those who have been propelled by such disruptions to understand them within the wider context of their lives. It is written for readers who want to learn how to reorient themselves to the foreign and unexpected territory they now find themselves in.
Unlike most books about traumatic events, Rupture in the Canvas does not focus on the wound and how to heal from it any more than we would focus on the broken eggshell of a baby hatchling or the fractured acorn of an emerging seedling. Instead, it explains how stepping into that scary, unknown space beyond the ragged edge of our former selves carries the power to transport us into an expanded experience of reality and the heart and soul of our truest identities.
It shows what is possible when, in the midst of our greatest doubts and fears, we choose to step through the ruptured canvas of our lives, daring to embrace whatever we find on the other side.
