Remains of Japhet: Being Historical Enquiries into the Affinity and Origin of the European Languages is a book written by James Parsons in 1767. The book is an investigation into the origins and connections between the various European languages, as well as their relationship to other languages around the world. The title refers to the biblical character Japhet, who was said to be the father of the European people. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part focusing on the history and development of the European languages, while the second part explores their relationship to other languages, including those of Asia and Africa. Parsons draws on a wide range of historical and linguistic sources to support his arguments, and his work was influential in the development of comparative linguistics. Today, Remains of Japhet is considered a landmark work in the field of linguistics and remains an important reference for scholars and researchers interested in the history and evolution of language. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
