These life-lessons have served as inspirations like ocean waves that have rolled onto the shores of my life. These experiences have touched and inspired me, bringing a transformation of my mind and spirit. These inspirations have served as a platform, bringing me to a place of healing, revelation, and self-acceptance, and a personal insight into how to process and view a purposeful life. From time to time along our life's journey, we encounter a fellow sojourner with whom we make a connection almost immediately. It tends to be humility that connects us, seeing in the other a genuine desire to learn, grow, love, and inspire. Born of modest means in Durham, North Carolina, the younger of two sons, Thomas Vanhook Jr. is such a sojourner. For over four decades, Thomas has inspired others through song and music. Among his many gifts, he has most notably applied his talent in the church as a minister of music, pianist, composer, teacher, workshop leader, and many more titles. The most important title to him is that of Inspirationalist. Thomas has dedicated his life's work to achieving a high level of artistry in whatever he does. It is this authentic artistry that touches the lives of so many. For Thomas, this book represents a bold step into a new territory of vulnerability and uncertainty. After many years of learning and growing, he recognized this truth: in his willingness to bare a little of himself-his thoughts, his fears, his triumphs, his failures, his insight and at times, even his humor-he helps others on their journey to connect with their power to learn, grow, love, and inspire.
