Remember when smoking and tanning were considered cool? The standards by which we judge beauty and success are subject to change. In Europe during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, when food was scarce, obesity was considered the coveted hallmark of the elite. That notion is pure absurdity compared to the ideal body image espoused by today's American idols. Dr. Tricia Keene's new book Out with the Old challenges the outdated view that many of us have about aging. She asserts that perception changes, and if you change your vision, you can change your world. Keene spent 30 years in the telecommunications and energy services industries, leaving both at the executive level. However, she would tell you that her significant personal growth came from her family life, as well as the experiences she has had since leaving Corporate America. After earning her Ph.D. with a concentration in midlife leadership at age 56, she has dedicated her working life to helping people age 40 to 90-plus discover their unique potential. If you are thinking about retiring and looking for a fulfilling next step, or are already retired and floundering, this book is for you. If you're unwilling to accept the current image of your later years as "old and unable," get ready to sculpt a new vision. Then too, if "old age" reminds you of people who are sick, helpless, and undervalued, this book will set you on the path to new growth, regardless of your age. Rooted in sound research and insightful observation, this book condenses and synchronizes every other message of its genre. Readers are calling it a masterpiece of common sense. Read it today, and say goodbye to the "old" you.
