This book is needed for many reasons. The author experienced first hand the effects of living for many years with untreated concussions that were also undiagnosed since childhood. The symptoms were easy to miss, attribute to other causes, and somewhat easy to compensate for as life goes on, but at some point the system loses its reserves of adaptability and more serious symptoms showed up. At that point the race is on to try to understand how it was overlooked and what to do about it before the damage becomes irreversible.
Head injuries are very common. Tens of millions of people every year experience them and go to the emergency room as a result, and likely millions more don't go to the hospital and just shake it off, or take a pill for the pain. This book is needed because the brain can hide its struggles in the form of change in mood, in ADD or dyslexia, in memory issues, headaches or sleep disturbances, and many other signs that are easy to dismiss. This book is needed because females, children, and seniors are more vulnerable to serious injury when they fall or have an accident, and will take longer to recover; this book shares why this is true and what to do about it.
I found out that public awareness is needed about how to prevent unnecessary discomfort throughout life and particularly during the aging process, which begins to hit every one in their 40's. It wasn't there until much later when I was in the recovery process, and the discoveries made along the way will save everyone the drudgery of finding out the long, hard way through trial and error. Opposing Gravity offers insight in the form of scientific evidence, lists of symptoms in acute and chronic phases, treatment options, diagnostic options, and lists of specific exercises that can access areas of impact in the neck and cranium most often impacted in head injuries. Integration and balance creates the sensation in the body of opposing gravity, along with a restoration marker that offers this sensation as a sign that communication between integral musculoskeletal systems and your brain is happening as it should.
Most conditions are easier to prevent than to cure, so I hope that by sharing the information in Opposing Gravity, millions of people will not need to go through the dementia, chronic pain, systemic dysregulation, and emotional imbalances that can happen from a simple fall or sport that you used to love.
