Old Breton Glosses is a book published in 1879 by Whitley Stokes. It contains a collection of glosses, or short annotations, on Old Breton texts that were written between the 9th and 11th centuries. The glosses were compiled by medieval scribes who added explanations or translations of difficult words or phrases in the margins of the manuscripts. The book provides a valuable resource for scholars and researchers interested in the Breton language and its development over time. Stokes' edition includes an introduction to the history of the Breton language, a detailed analysis of the glosses, and a glossary of Old Breton words. The book is written in English and is suitable for advanced students and scholars of linguistics, medieval studies, and Celtic studies. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
