Author Biography

Paolo and Cynthia are both recognized for their research-driven approaches to workplace transformation and inclusive practices, each with a strong academic foundation that informs their work. Paolo, author of Measuring Inclusion, brings extensive experience as an entrepreneur and teacher in inclusion and talent management. Cynthia, author of Clear Cane Chronicles: Shaping the Future of Healthcare Through Person-Centered Care, has developed and delivered training programs that empower professionals to build inclusive, high-performing teams. Together, their blend of research expertise and leadership uniquely positions them to bridge inclusion and meritocracy in this book.

Paolo Gaudiano

With advanced degrees in aerospace engineering and neuroscience, Paolo Gaudiano jokes that he'd already done rocket science and brain surgery before turning to a really complex problem: convincing business leaders that they can achieve superior financial results by creating more inclusive organizations.

Paolo is founder of tech startup Aleria and research nonprofit ARC. A former tenured professor at Boston University, Paolo has also taught at NYU, Tufts and CUNY, and is chair of the annual D&I Research Conference.

Paolo is the award-winning author of Measuring Inclusion, a frequent contributor to leading media outlets, and a sought-after speaker with two TEDx talks and hundreds of presentations around the globe. His work has been recognized with prestigious awards in multiple disciplines, including a social entrepreneurship fellowship from the Kravis Center for Social Impact, a robotics fellowship from the Office of Naval Research, and a neuroscience fellowship from the Sloan Foundation.

Cynthia Overton

Cynthia Overton has spent her career helping leaders leverage data and best practices to drive successful outcomes. As is a recognized leader in inclusive workplace practices and talent management, she led the creation of a 26-module certificate program to maximize employee engagement and performance, and has convened top professionals to advance innovative workplace practices. As a seasoned public speaker, Cynthia delivers keynote addresses and leads discussions at national and international forums, empowering organizations to build resilient, high-performing teams.

Her expertise extends to healthcare leadership, where she champions person-centered care and authored Clear Cane Chronicles: Shaping the future of healthcare through person-centered care, offering insights to transform patient experiences and outcomes.

Cynthia is the founder of Triple Edge Advising LLC, where she advises organizational leaders--including those in healthcare--on practical strategies for achieving their goals and producing desired results.
