Decode words and learn high frequency words with this fun book. Children will also learn that the pictures that come into their minds from reading words are singular and special. They will draw what they see in their mind's eye and be able to compare it to what the author/illustrator saw in her mind's eye. They will learn that pictures are only meant to confirm that the words have been read correctly and that the letters sounds blend to make words and words have meaning.
All young mammals learn through purposeful plan and all Letters are Characters(c)' books and materials are seriously playful.
"Too often, we see otherwise bright, capable children's self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning plummet because they lag behind their peers in their acquisition of early reading skills. In Letters are Characters(c), Dr. Wilcox Ugurlu has brought her unique perspective as a scientist, educator, and parent to create a playful, compassionate, and well-informed program for parents (and educators) to help their children begin to build critical reading readiness skills." - Paul B. Yellin, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, NYU School of Medicine; Director, The Yellin Center for Mind, Brain, and Education
