Additional information
by Thomas B. Wilson (Author)
This is a compilation of lists of inhabitants of New York on the eve of the Revolution, which originally appeared in a variety of out-of-the-way publications. Covering New York City and the Long Island counties of Suffolk and Queens, this work lists militiamen, minutemen, guards, Loyalists, members of the Committees of Safety, signers (and non-signers) of the Association Oath, firemen, paupers, storekeepers, tavernkeepers, voters, freeholders, debtors, army officers, etc. listed in the principal sources consulted, namely, newspapers, census lists, petitions, and poll lists. Altogether over 13,000 names are recorded in alphabetical order with the county of residence, town or address when known, and the source of the information.
