Author Biography
Benny Zenga is an artist and filmmaker who engineers and embodies the movies he makes. Most of his projects involve designing and building a unique contraption--whether it's a double-decker bicycle or a rogue hut dwelling--and he thrives on immersing himself in every part of the process. He sees the camera as a tool: to experience life more deeply, to build community, and to transform my life. He grew up in a large family, with eight siblings and parents who instilled the ethos "tools, not toys." Designing and building objects out of wood and steel--often using found materials--comes second nature to him. Working professionally as a director, camera operator, and editor, he has led multiple video campaigns with major brands including Swatch, Red Bull, Vans, Converse, Dickies, VICE, and MTV. No stranger to using the camera in pursuit of the ridiculous, he rode a tall bike across Africa with his brother, Christian, producing the documentary Where Are You Go. The film has screened at cultural institutions around the world, including Anthology Film Archives in New York, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, the Barbican in London, and L'Entrepôt in Paris. Willy Zenga is a philosopher of creative foolishness. He's constantly exploring alternative movements within popular culture, music, religion and spirituality. He's primarily fascinated by radical public artistic expression outside of the mainstream. He's an art-car driver, skateboarder, tall biker, and creator of wearable art, and works with Zenga Bros as a writer, collaborator, and visionary.
