Microscopic heart-when it took its first beat, little did I know it would change everything about me.
Growing a tiny being inside our bodies and bringing them into the world is a miraculous journey-beautiful, terrifying, joyful, and overwhelming, often all at once. For centuries, women have lived this sacred transformation, and yet, for each of us, the experience is uniquely our own.
In this postpartum poetry collection, Misty Rivers explores the raw, spiritual, and emotional terrain of early motherhood. With fierce honesty and lyrical depth, her poems navigate identity loss, ancestral pain, inner awakening, and the profound rebirth that occurs through the eyes of a new mother.
Each section reflects a stage of psychological and spiritual evolution, culminating in the powerful reclamation of voice, love, and self. These are not lullabies-they are battle cries and whispered prayers, written in the quiet hours between feeding and healing.
As You Lie Sleeping offers a visceral, lyrical journey through the postpartum mind-birthing new identity through grief, myth, and the timeless bond of motherhood.
