Her work is on the nature of the self and mind, which she examines through issues in philosophy of mind, artificial intelligence (A.I.), metaphysics, astrobiology, epistemology, and neuroscience. She is the author of \u003ci\u003eThe Language of Thought: a New Philosophical Direction\u003c\/i\u003e (2011) and \u003ci\u003eScience Fiction and Philosophy, Second Edition\u003c\/i\u003e (Wiley Blackwell, 2016), and was responsible for the volume's philosophical content. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e Max Velmans\u003c\/b\u003e is Emeritus Professor of Psychology, Goldsmiths, University of London, and has been involved in consciousness studies for over 40 years. He has over 100 publications on this topic including \u003ci\u003eUnderstanding Consciousness\u003c\/i\u003e (2000\/2009) and \u003ci\u003eTowards a Deeper Understanding of Consciousness\u003c\/i\u003e (2017).
